Customizing Firewall Rules on Private Server

When you have a private VPN server, you have the ability to enable and disable certain firewall features. Currently, there are only a limited number of customizable firewall rules available. Here is more information about these rules:

Unpullable: Enabling this feature prevents users from capturing your private server's IP through party chat on Xbox or on games like Minecraft, Roblox, and GTA. This forces connections to go through the server instead of using the standard P2P protocol. However, some games may have issues with this feature, depending on your NAT type and internet connection.

Disable TCP Ping Port: Enabling this feature prevents users from checking if your service is online or targeting the TCP ping port. However, this also means that you won't be able to use our tool to check your latency to the server.

Speed Limit: This feature prevents disconnection from the server during attack mode on OVH. However, it also limits your download and upload speed to 30 Mbit.!

How do I obtain my login credentials for the VPN?

OctoVPN offers two types of VPN solutions: public servers and private servers. The public server options include the "Normal," "Pro," and "Family" plans. Getting the credentials for either of these options is straightforward and simple; please see the instructions below.

How to get your Private Server credentials:

Visit https://manage.octovpn.com/vpn
Select your Private VPN server and click "View Details"
Click the "Users" tab
From here, you can either add new users or view the login credentials for existing users.

These credentials can be used to log in to the official OctoVPN app.

How to get your Public Server credentials:

Visit https://manage.octovpn.com/vpn
Select your Active VPN Service
Your username and password are the information you need to connect to our VPN. These can be found on the page you are currently on.

| It is important to note that the login credentials for the VPN are different from the login details for the website. Be sure to use the correct information when logging in to either service.

How to set custom hostname for your Private Server

Accepted Answer

To set a custom hostname, you need to own a Private Server and a domain, and know how to create and configure an A-Record to point to your server's IP address. The DNS record management service you use is not important - in this article, we use Cloudflare as an example, but you can use any service you prefer. With these requirements and knowledge in place, you can set a custom hostname for your Private Server.

Log in to your Cloudflare account and select the domain for which you want to set the A record.
In the domain's DNS settings, scroll down to the "DNS records" section.
Click on the "Add record" button.
In the "Type" field, select "A" from the dropdown menu.
In the "Name" field, enter the hostname or subdomain for which you want to set the A record. For example, if you want to set the A record for "www.example.com", you would enter "www" in the "Name" field.
In the "IPv4 address" field, enter the IP address of your Private Server.
Click on the "Add record" button to save the changes.
Once you have set the A record, it may take a few minutes for the changes to propagate across the internet. After that, the hostname or subdomain will resolve to the IP address that you specified in the A record.

For iOS users, the app is currently in development. However, there is a solution:

Extract the ZIP file on your iOS device, then import the ".ovpn" files into the OpenVPN Connect app.
